K , I see two views by two different types of folks.
View #1: This system sucks. Its not fair and just. America is a great country and land of immigrants and we chose to immigrate here. Lets work on this issue so that I myself and folks such as myself now and going forward do not have this problem. I will do what ever it takes. I personally feel that regardless of the outcome, it gives immense self satisfaction to commit to meaningful cause. Others might not feel so, but all of us believe that this problem needs to be solved and do what ever we can do.

I compared the president to show that immigrants and sons of immigrants can have a life that is quite opposite of what the OP said. Should I say that all of you those who bought homes and are having a life bought a home with 0% down and interest only loan so that you can save your taxes now and if your GC does not come through in 5 years, you will walk out with out any loss as you made hefty deductions and haven't paid single penny towards the mortgage and simply go to Timbuktu or Krakovia. I will not!. Just because you chose to buy a home and have a life does not mean that others dont. Every one lives their own lives. Those who dont buy a home live a life of their choice. Stop judging people. GC was not a risk or hindrance to you in buying a home but could be for Joe the Analyst. You might have deep pockets, Joe the analyst might not or have other commitments. Coupled with the lack of GC, his risk might be more than some one else.

Just a note( i am not trying to deter anybody or argue against your compilation) that by law all foreigners are required to carry their passport, how many of us follow that, on that note, I will not carry original with me at all. just my 0.02 cents.

But I would think that passports, unlike the PR card, are not designed to be tucked into your wallet for carrying around. I opened an account with them few years back and had to experience the same crappy service. The funny thing is that they had two phone numbers one for new customers calling to ask them about their services and the other one from existing customers.
The phone number for the new customers was answered within minutes and the quality of customer service reps was good BUT if you would call the other number if you were an existing customer then you would have to wait for someone to answer the call for hours and the quality of their reps was pathetic. The best part was that if you call the phone number for new cust and tell them you are an existing cust and have an issue then they would tell you too call the other phone number as they do not have access to the info.
I guess right after my first transaction, I canceled the account. The only way we can teach these people a lesson is by not giving our business to them in the first place.

So you see, what really matters here is whether you feel you are entitled to something or not. If you don�t feel entitled to a fair immigration process that does justice to those who seek legal ways to immigration, then you probably aren�t entitled. To ask for something, you must first believe that you deserve it. And to show that you deserve it, you must ask it loudly and clearly from rooftops.Don�t predict visa bulletins, but work to change and influence the visa bulletin 6 months from now. And no, you wont be deported for exercising that constitutional right.

I am also shopping for my parent's insurance coming to US next month. I found the coverage by TATA AIG better than ICICI. The HMO plans for Kaiser is also good but expensive. United Health care does not provide insurance if the applicant doesn't have SSN.

It's easy to imagine that our message does not get any where depending on different experiences we had in the past, but most of the times when there is a real good push from grass roots org, together with the lobbying activity, the message goes all the way. Whether we get support or not is a different story.
Oh B T W, 5882 and 5921 not only help EB but also FB. 5882 recaptures wasted FB numbers and 5921 increases the FB country limit to 10%.

Memos are for interpretation of laws by USCIS. Any memo is advisory in nature and does not have force of law. These memos, unless challenged and turned downed by court or withdrawn, are valid.
Your saying that memo is illegal does not mean anything more than your personal opinion.
H-1B petitions have denied in past based on employer-employee relationship, unable to specify duties at end client, and self employment cases. If you are interested, let me know, I will put links here.
PS: This does not mean that I personally agree/disagree with the memo. This is just to show the legal aspect of it.

The only difference this time is, it has come in the form of a memo. It is in fact a blessing in disguise. AILA has some reference document against which they can fight in court and get it overturned permanently.

A green card application requires enormous amount of efforts and money from the beneficiary and his/her employer. People who are waiting for 7-8 years now would have had already spent average $15,000-$20,000, in maintaining their statuses and keep the Green Card process going on. Being stuck in a green card process keeps us bonded with 1 employer, job type etc.
We need to know if there is any light at the end of the tunnel. We need to know for how long we have to live our life in limbo. If there is hope than we need to be patient and plan to live like that for another 1-2 years. But if there�s no light at the end of the tunnel than we need to move on with our careers and other family commitments. Only your office and USCIS can help us by releasing statistics on the number and categories of applications pending with USCIS people waiting in this category can plan their lives accordingly.
It will be a great help if DOS or USCIS could tell us about the number of AOS application pending at USCIS along with their Categories(EB-3, EB-2, EB-1) and chargeable country.

Thanks man!!!, for bringing me in to reality. I thought I can hope and live in dreams atleast for couple of weeks. You are not allowing me do that. You always want me in the reality and be sad that I could not file and angry that USCIS messed it up.
Special Note: I am already screwed. My heart is already broke. Now nothing, I mean nothing can.
once significant amount of AOS applns were received - there will be a process to dispatch these rejected applications base don priority date.
cmon people for uscis everything is a process and all know it takes time
im not pessimistic, but uscis made me so.
like others say - dont build hopes unless u see fruit in ur hand. my2c
