For those who are not able to put their faith in the efforts of the IV Core, too bad you didn't volunteer and participate in lobby day last September.
If you had been there, you would not suspect the motives or say things like they are taking credit for good news etc.. It is very disappointing to hear that.
I think it is reasonable that we won't be getting day-to-day updates and details on the background efforts. From my side, I have enough trust in the organization that when IV asks for the participation of the community, I will support it whole-heartedly.

Moderators, do you think it's possible to issue an email receipt to contributors? I donated $250 so far and the first $100 was done through my bank billpay.. However, the online billpay deducted the amount right away, and it didn't give me any indication whether the check was actually endorsed by the intended recipient on the supposed delivery date.. Worrying about that, I sent in my second contribution via paypal.
Writing an actual paper check, I would see a copy of endorsement online, or using paypal I would know it's cashed out via email. But this is not the case with my bank's (bank of america) online billpay. Thanks!

I haven't read anywhere about what would happen to existing approved labors but since they can no longer be substituted, my understanding is that they can only be used for the original beneficiary. If that person has left the company then that labor is just trash.
This should help because lot of people who have moved to other companies after the labor was approved, those labors will just be useless and taken out of circulation.
If this law does not apply to existing labors, we will still be in the same situation. BTW, what is a desi company. How come it can sell labors? Is selling labor legal?

Our bill would require every employer to attest that it is not displacing a U.S. worker by hiring an H-1B visa holder and that the employer has taken good-faith steps to recruit U.S. workers for the jobs in which an H-1B visa holder is being sought. Why would anyone oppose this measure? Our bill also gives more oversight and investigative authority to the Department of Labor. Right now the Department may only review labor certification for ``clear indication of fraud and misrepresentation.'' The Secretary of Labor is unable to review applications for anything but what the law calls incompleteness and cannot initiate an investigation unless requested. This means the Labor Department in effect is required to turn a blind eye to information that is suspicious. To remedy this problem, our bill provides the Department of Labor the ability to initiate an investigation on its own and gives the Department of Labor more time to review applications. The Department could also do random audits of any company that uses the program. Aside from these measures, our bill would prohibit employers to only advertise available jobs to H-1B visa holders. It would encourage information sharing between the Department of Labor and the Department of Homeland Security. It would double the penalties for employer noncompliance with the H-1B program requirements. I am happy to report that most of these commonsense solutions were included in the immigration bill. I challenge any of my colleagues to oppose these needed reforms before we talk about increasing the number of H-1B visas or at the very least in conjunction with that process. Today I take the floor to tell my colleagues that I am willing to work on this issue before the end of the year. I know businesses want more visas. I know groups that represent workers and visa holders want reforms. I know the American people want a sensible system in place that gives their children a chance at these highly skilled jobs. Some of my colleagues think the solution is increasing the annual cap on H-1B visas and doing nothing else. Before we agree to import more foreign workers, let's restore integrity in this H-1B program. The system needs a makeover. I am willing to consider an increase in the H-1B visa supply, but only if reforms are included. We must fix the loopholes before we just allow more foreign workers to come in and take jobs that Americans want to do. I would think my colleagues would want this program to work as it was intended by its original authors. My colleagues should want to protect the jobs of our various constituencies and help our businesses find the workers they truly need.

the mailed date was recently added as a column.. till now ppl were using receipt date column as application reached.. wait till fp dates and notice dates get populated...the earliest i have seen is for ppl current in june who have a receipt date of 06/29

Such events cost money. If we have enough contributions, we can spend as per our budget of nearly $ 50,000. If not, we will have to cut back on the event spending and reduce the magnitude and size of the event.
If you are not coming to DC next week, please do your part and contribute funds to Immigration Voice. It not only finances the event properly, it instills pride and confidence in the members who will be there in DC that there are thousands of willing supporters behind them who could not be there physically but are 100% with them in their determination and resolve.

Was the H1B through a body shopper? I"ve heard of reopening all old cases of a company if they find a dubious H1B sponsorship, or if a company gets blacklisted.

It would take at least 45 days. You will always get about a month's notice for the interview. As per my case, I got a notice on March 10, 2009 that my case was transferred to NBC and that I would have to attend an interview at local office. I got the interview notice around May 15th for the interview scheduled on June 25th.
Hard and Soft LUD recently stating case moved to local office. Does anybody has any idea on timeframe for interview call? Dates being current I want it asap.

The question is who will fight it. Lawyer website are posting information. But none of them have filed a lawsuit if they really cared about this issue.

You need to understand how legal system works. Lawyer can not file lawsuite by himself/herself. It has to come from Employer, that too, when employer's H1-B petition is denied based on memo info or H1-B worker is denied entry. Damages (or Loss) must be shown before a civil suit can be filed.

The American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA) has a Business Litigation Committee (BLC) and we met this week and the hot topic of discussion was the recently released Neufeld memo. There is a strong belief that the memo was issued in violation of the Administrative Procedures Act. There is also the belief that the memo violates long-standing precedent and established law. It is believed that there are numerous industry groups as well as individual companies that may be pursuing litigation on this matter. The BLC is in the process of working with the American Immigration Council to create a special section within its clearinghouse service http://www.legalactioncenter.org/litigation-clearinghouse (http://www.h1cap.com/blocked::http://www.legalactioncenter.org/litigation-clearinghouse) specifically dedicated to collecting and posting relevant documents and information on this issue. Does USCIS send RFE for both primary & dependent applications, if it is related to Employment?

If I understood your question right, are u asking about EVL RFE for both primary and dependent applicants?
I Don't think so. Logically even when the dependent works,the primary applicant's employer need to prove that they support GC process on that application.
They will not check for dependent EVL as it is not relevant in this case.
At the most they may verify dependent past non-immigrant visa status.
