Our Goal for this event was $50000 and so far we did not even raise 20k. We are approximately 60% under target. We won't be able to have another event like this if we go down this path. The last thing we want to happen is our efforts to stall due to lack of dollars. it would undo everything we have done in the past 4.5 years

ya, lets step-up a poll and have everyone vote, as if this is the US congress. And after voting leave it for someone else to work on this and other "brilliant" idea. There needs to be a reality check. This poll doesn't mean anything unless there are enough people to spend time and energy at every level. But ya, lets setup a poll and have everyone vote, it will give everyone a feel good factor that everyone contributed in the advocacy effort, how? by voting in the pool and not doing anything about how everyone votes.

I-140 approved on May 31, 2007 from Texas center.
I-485, EAD, AP applications sent at Texas center.
Mailed documents June 30th.
Documents reached USCIS July 2nd in the morning.
I-140 - LUD was August 5, 2007
Checked with employer-Checks encashed on August 13, 2007.
Got 6 SRC #s. 3 for me and 3 for my spouse.
I-485, EAD, AP applications sent at Texas center.
Mailed documents June 30th.

Err... that was about "no work day"... Our agenda is to support one of IVs agendas.. attract media attention. So even if IV does not endorse the method... we are still supporting what IV is attempting to do!

We have had similar experiences in Southern California as well. We are about a group of 10 - 15 ppl. in so.cal who actively take part in the action items and contribute inspite of having 113 registered members in the chapter. We recruited over 200 newbies in the past three events in southern california. Let's see if we can get all of them to register and get active

I grow different kind in my backyard. It all depends on the size of your backyard and which zone you live in states. I live in virginia. By this August end /september first week summer crop will end. I grow tomatoes(30 plants), Mint, snake guard, water melons (15 plants), cantaloupes(10 plants), carrots, okra, spinach , chillis. Its fun and hard work too. You need to dig the soil, mix with top soil or garden soil and cultivate it. Every week fertilize it. This is my first year gardening. I have around 3000 square ft of back yard. i do not know what to do with that. I cannot maintain Lawn in back yard. So I decided to grow vegetables.
I am eagerly waiting for my fall garden..I am planning to grow tulips,beets,cilantro,carrots,potato,peas etc., If I can get same space for garden In India and work place just 3 miles from home , I can happily go back to India.
Thanks for sharing. I am in California. I have about 1600 sq feet to grow our veggies. We use raised beds. I have grown everything you mentioned but could not get snake gourd (paduwal or podlanga). Where do you get the seeds from? I get seeds like Lauki (bottle gourd), Turai (Ridge gourd) etc from amazon. I was never able to grow cantaloupes and melons successfully.

04/10/2007: USCIS Updates 2008 H-1B Cap Status as of 04/09/2007 - Surprise, Surprise, and Surprise!!!
Somewhat very good news. It turns out the total FY 2008 H-1B cap cases which they received are not 150,000 nor 133,000. The total number is 119,193. Accordingly the odds of winning in the lottery will be only 2:1.
For U.S. advanced or higher degree cases, they only received 12,989 and the H-1B for these people is still wide open and they can file the petition now.

Please contact IV core before you do these kind of campaigns. While it is understandable that most IV members are enthuiastic and want to contribute in all possible ways, at this time, it is essential to do it in the most effective way. Please come up with innovative ideas and discuss them with core before you start campaigns

Hi,
I have applied for H1 this year and my OPT is valid for next 29 months.
I am working for A with OPT. Now when B has filed my H1B and if it gets approved in Oct 2008, will I be able to continue to work for A for some more time using my OPT status. I dont have immediate plans to work for B on H1 B and I would probably join them in May 2009, .
Will H1 B approval from a DIFFERENT company have any effect on MY OPT status. I know sometimes people get 2 H1bs from two companies.
